About Me

Now I’m not going to try and pretend that I’ve been into comics since I could read. Sure I grew up with shows like Batman the Animated Series and X-Men, but my real love for comics wasn’t until after college. After that I found myself swept up into the medium. Since I started seriously collecting and reading comics, I’ve been to over three dozen conventions and have added over 4000 single issues to my collection. Coworkers and friends started referring to me as “that comic girl” and thus the persona ThatComicgirl was born.

I wanted to be more than just a fan. I wanted to be a part of comics, but that’s not always easy. So while I still worked hard at penning my way into comics as a writer I also devoted my attention to a new goal. That everyone should love comics and I mean EVERYONE.

But it’s not always easy. Looking back on my introduction to comics I realize that it wasn’t exactly an easy one. Convoluted crossovers and multiple reboots are enough to intimidate and chase away new readers. One of my earliest comic experiences was walking into a comic shop and being presented with Avengers of X-men #1 and Red Hood & The Outlaws #1 both of which had me leaving more questions than enjoyment. What do you mean there was more than one Robin or that Cyclops killed Xavier?

I decided to use my platform and ThatComicGirl persona to help people love comics as much as I do. Between a Youtube channel and a dedicated blog, I decided to pursue comic reviews, think pieces and complete recommended reading lists to help readers find their way into the world of comics. At the end of the day, I just want to use my platform and the ThatComicGirl persona to help people love comics as much as I do because COMICS ARE FOR EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!

  • My favorite characters include X-23, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Hawkeye, Catwoman, Red Sonja and Hawkgirl
  • I might love STAR WARS just as much as I love COMICS
  • I’m an avid Funko Pop collector and have over 100 in my collection
  • I once filmed for an episode of Comic Book Men that to this day was never aired.
  • I’ve been in and out of conventions and comic shops as both a volunteer and a former employee.
  • I originally went to school for graphic design and do all of my design and editing work myself.
